AEAWA Win on Medic Home Depot Changes

By 16 September 2025September 19th, 2025No Comments

After months of pushing back against unfair changes to Medic Home Depot allocations, AEAWA can confirm that St John WA has closed consultation without implementing the proposed changes. This means the existing arrangements remain in place, protecting members from the significant loss of travel allowances and additional travel burdens that would have come with the change.

AEAWA raised multiple disputes on this issue, challenging both the misinterpretation of the Enterprise Agreement and the inadequate consultation process. We also highlighted the financial impact these changes would have had on our members. This is a strong outcome for our members. It shows that when we stand together, we can defend entitlements, challenge poor decisions, and ensure that agreements are upheld.

Thank you to all our Medic members who stood alongside us to fight this change.
AEAWA will continue to monitor depot allocation practices closely and hold management accountable to protect members’ rights.

**Note on Medic Shift Allowances Underpayment Issue**

A quick update to our Medic members that we have not forgotten about the potential shift allowance underpayment we raised with St John in March/April 2025.

This issue has turned out to be quite complex and required a full audit of all Medics across all shift patterns to understand who may be liable for any underpayment. While this timeframe has been excessive, a lot of work is ongoing between AEA and St John. Rest assured that if any underpayment is identified it can be recouped for 6 years…hopefully it doesn’t take that long.
