Dear members,
As many of you are aware it has been nearly 4 months since we first wrote to St John in regards to access to safe and hygienic hospital amenities for ambulance and transport officers. Since then we have written follow up emails to senior management at St John, but as of this time we have yet to receive any reply. Sadly this has become a fairly typical example of the organisation’s response to fair and justifiable requests and enquiries. In the last 24 hours we have escalated this issue and written to the Minister for Health Hon Roger Cook MLA and Department of Health Director General Dr Russell-Weisz requesting they mandate WA public hospitals provide ambulance staff with areas for the safe preparation and consumption of meals. We will advise the membership once we receive a response.
