Ongoing delays for processing leave requests and changes

By 28 January 2021April 9th, 2021No Comments

Dear members,

On 13th January the AEAWA wrote to St John (click here to view the letter) to highlight concerns raised by members who have experienced lengthy delays in having their requests to alter a leave block processed.

Members have received automated replies from the Leave department, advising that only requests pertaining to the immediate next two roster blocks will be processed. This renders our members unable to plan and coordinate their R&R and unable to commit to social events and engagements, and, we believe, is contrary to the intention of Clause 29.1(g) of the Certified Agreement, whereby St John ‘will as far as practicable attempt to accommodate requests for changes to leave’. St John have today responded, stating that they ‘have been unable to identify any circumstances where there has been a significant delay in responding to requests to alter leave block in the near future’.

The AEAWA believe this emphasis on only processing requests in ‘the near future’ is unacceptable and urge any member who has submitted a leave block request which has not been processed in a timely manner, to contact us with details of when they submitted their request and to which dates it pertains.

Please email details to us at [email protected] Kind regards AEAWA Executive
